The "Boston Tea Party"?
Sep. 25th, 2008 11:19 amYesterday a student handed me a piece of paper with a list of the candidates who will not be on the ballot in Indiana (that being all but the main two); a list including candidates from such estimable instuitutions as the Objectivist Party, the Prohibition Party, and the Boston Tea Party. (On the less ridiculous end of the spectrum, the Green Party, the Libertarians, and the perennial Ralph Nader are also excluded.) The Boston Tea Party? Are they against taxation by the British? For having tea in Boston? Somehow the exclusion of the Boston Tea Party does not raise my ire against the exclusion of third party candidates from the ballot.
(Actually I'm kind of relieved that third party candidates are excluded. I feel like I shouldn't be, but I am.)
**Wikipedia says they are Libertarian purists. I guess being anti-taxation is a Libertarian thing; but the choice of name still seems ridiculous.
