I'm a proper perfectionist only about one thing. Or maybe 2.

While in the subway I had the thought that I take stabs at things: estimate the general area of the destination and start off, even if it means getting slightly lost and retracing my steps a couple times before I find the exact target. (Locations, notes, recipes, and: "an investigation is needed in order to find the right point of attack for the critic.") The general idea really feels solid until I get there.

Making arguments in philosophy sometimes feels like trying to make a time machine out of a cardboard box and a clock.
